Spindler Properties - Donner Lake

This unique 1950s three-story converted water tower has views of pristine Donner Lake from every level. Each floor is round with cozy knotty pine ceilings, wood walls and beams.

The main gathering place is centered around a great room that includes a living area with comfortable couches and chairs poised around a wood burning Franklin stove and big screen TV and CD/DVD player. The open kitchen is large enough for three busy cooks and is far from rustic.

There is a stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and loads of storage. Tall stools are at the bar so guests can talk to you while you cook. There is a full size pool table for the sharks in the family and decks at the front and back of this level for barbeques and an open fire pit for bonfires and s'mores.

Above the living room is a loft that sleeps four. The next level down has three bedrooms, two full baths and a laundry room. There is also a deck on this level with a large all season hot tub. The third level has its own living room, kitchenette, two bedrooms and a full bath. Three to five car parking is also available, depending on season.

The house is located on a quiet street that skirts the south side of the lake and is conveniently located one mile from the historic city of Truckee, established in 1893. Truckee boasts many trendy shops and cutting edge restaurants, housed in brick and timber Victorian buildings. Truckee is 'old mountain charm'.

Donner Lake is a focal point for many activities. In summer, there are the usual water types of activities: swimming, sailing, water skiing, kayaking and fishing can be enjoyed on this 'jewel of the Sierra'. There is quite a bit of 'public' access to the lake: Donner Memorial State Park, beach and museum, is on the east end of the lake and on the other end is the West End Beach.

Being at the center of some of the best snow skiing and snow boarding in the Sierra, makes Donner Lake a very popular place. Donner Lake is less than a half hour from: Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Tahoe/Donner, Boreal and Soda Springs. In addition to the above, Royal Gorge and the Donner Memorial State Park have trails for hikers, cross country skiers, snow shoe enthusiasts and sledding and tubing.

From this warm and charming house on Donner Lake you will find an outdoor environment in which to explore and have great adventures and the place to come back to for relaxing comfort with your companions.
